Huvafen Fushi Launches 2nd volume with DJ Ravin in Paris
On June 1st, 2010, Per AQUUM launched Huvafen Fushi Maldives by Ravin vol. 2 in Paris. Attended by Academy Award nominee Catherine Deneuve, Cesar Award winner François Cluzet, singer and songwriter Zazie, renowned chocolatier Pierre Hermé and DJs Stéphane Pompougnac and Charles Schillings, the evening was filled with Parisian glamour and Maldivian chic. This October 15th, Ravin graces the shores of Huvafen Fushi for the Indian Ocean launch and the Hay Festival closing party on October 16th 2010. This spectacular event, held on the Presidential island of Aarah, is the accumulation of a four day arts extravaganza across the Maldives.

Huvafen Fushi Scoops Top Awards at Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge 2010
The culinary team at Huvafen Fushi scooped thirteen medals out of ten categories including the three major culinary awards - “Top Maldivian Chef”: Saniu Ali Didi, “Most Outstanding Chef”: Nalaka Gayan and “Best Culinary Establishment” at the recent Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge, 2010 held in Male.
Huvafen Fushi’s culinary team is led by the extraordinarily talented duo; Executive Chef Parana Vithanage Nishantha and Executive Sous Chef Gaushan de Silva.
Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge has established itself as a must-attend event for the hospitality industry sector and is regarded as one of the most important industry events in South Asia. Participating countries include India, Sri Lanka, Dubai, US, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, South Africa, France and Switzerland. |

Charles Shillings Launches ‘Like a Radio’ at Huvafen Fushi
Renowned DJ and Producer, Charles Schillings was back at the trendy retreat to launch his third album, ‘Like a Radio’ on August 6th, 2010.
Charles’ African origins and Belgian culture inspired him to ‘tune in’ at the age of 10 when he was inspired by the Jackson Five, hence his 70s influenced beats. In 1989, his contact with the likes of Moby and Step got him into the world of electronica and he made his trademark in the French electro culture. He took his music to the clubs in Paris, Belgium, New York and Moscow and headlining in front of an audience of 18,000 people in Tokyo, Jakarta and London.
Regarded as one of the most wanted French DJs at the moment, his latest album, ‘Like a Radio’ introduces us to the world of fashion with electro/pop pieces evocatively named Fashion Sense, VIP Night and Runway Girls. |

Ingredients
50ml Russian Standard
10 fresh basil leaves
3 fresh lime wedges
2 bar spoon of caster sugar
50ml Lychee juice
Method
Gently muddle the basil, lime and sugar in the glass. Add the vodka, juice and ice then stir. Add more ice if needed.

Per AQUUM is pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Duberly as General Manager of Desert Palm - Dubai. Wayne is well travelled with 20 years of experience specialising in boutique properties throughout Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. He has a solid understanding of managing and operating high-end luxury resorts and has held General Manager positions at The Duxton Hotel in Vietnam, The Nam Hai (a GHM Hotel in Vietnam), and Montpelier Plantation Inn in the West Indies. He has also held executive management roles at The Dorchester, UK. Of British nationality, Wayne brings a wealth of hospitality experience to the role. |
