CARBON OFFSETTING
By the time today's children in many parts of the world where Per AQUUM has a presence reach middle age, their homeland may be gone and entire nations evacuated. We are already seeing the impact of climate change... increased flooding... incidence of disease... population migrations. The economies of many of the areas where we operate depend upon tourism... it is time to take responsibility and help preserve these regions.
Per AQUUM realises that time is of the essence, and we are taking immediate action. In partnership with UK registered charity (No. 1112249) PURE The Clean Planet Trust, we have measured our emissions in accordance with the relevant scopes of the World Resources Institute Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and a retreat emissions reduction programme is ongoing, such as improvements to our energy efficiency, waste reduction and recycling.
We shall also be inviting guests arriving by air to offset their emissions, hence eliminating the impact of their travel. The scheme will offer pro-active support to projects in the developing world that not only verifiably reduce emissions, but also promote real sustainable development. The scheme will reflect both partners' commitment to authenticity, and the highest levels of quality and social and environmental responsibility. All projects supported will meet and exceed the standards of the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism and UK Government Code of Best Practice for carbon offsetting.
Your donation to PURE will be used to financially support Kyoto projects that will eliminate the equivalent of your flight emissions by producing clean renewable energy from wind, solar, hydro, biomass and forestry preservation schemes that help reduce global dependence upon fossil fuels.
The charity's Trustees then cancel the carbon credits that witness these reductions, thus preventing them from being used as 'licences to pollute' by industry embraced by carbon trading schemes. That lowers the Kyoto emissions cap and additionally reduces emissions in the developed world, hence a dual environmental benefit.
